Tell us a little bit about yourself. Any fun facts?
My summers at Jenness pond started as an infant and during the summer I was either at the pond or away at summer camp (Yes! I loved summer camp and went for 9 summers!) I grew up in New Jersey but my Mom and Dad were from Suncook, NH and it was my great grandparents who had their cottage here on the pond. John and I spent the first summer of our marriage living at the cottage- no hot water and no heat- good thing we found an apartment in September of that year (1975). Fun Fact- John and I play scrabble for a bit every day.
What do you do as a volunteer for the JPSOA?
I started and now administer the Weed Watcher Program and I also am Coordinator for our Lake Host program. And to ensure some quiet enjoyment of the pond I also volunteer as a Lake Host.
What inspired you to volunteer? What is the most rewarding part of your volunteer work?
I was moved to get involved in supporting “lake life” because of my love for Jenness Pond. I feel tranquility and peace as I drive down our dirt road to the cottage. The most rewarding part of volunteering is being with other like minded people that share an appreciation for the outdoors and life on the pond.
What would you like those considering volunteering to know?
The reward you receive for volunteering is a wonderful feeling inside that you are doing something good for yourself, your family, and your pond community . Protecting our precious natural environment is important.
